No pretty pictures from ReuseConex, just musings on my new buzzword: REUSE.
I’m trying to make sense of this week’s ReuseConex conference, putting it all together and how it relates to interior redesign work. But really, I cannot escape the bigger picture and how “REUSE” should be the new “recycling” in everyone’s mind. I loved the message of a company called Beedance.
“Honeybees communicate the location of resources to their hive mates using a special dance language. BeeDance users will learn and benefit from this unique behavior…”
They connect people to resources, particularly artists and arts’ educators, …materials that would end up in the landfill. Beedance promotes the idea of “ZeroLandfill.”
And iWasteNot Systems who provides web-based surplus material exchanges in communities across North America (for household items, electronics and food waste, to name a few).
And finally,Atom Cianfarani who creates these amazing green roofs, incorporating reuse materials. They are works of art and green.
Back to design…I can only strive to incorporate more reuse practices, research more reuse materials, and find other ways to “walk the walk.” Cuz this week it’s been easy to talk the talk and get pumped up, but how to live it 100% ain’t easy. But I got a couple ideas brewing…big news to follow in the coming months.
